Eligibility

  • 18 years or older

  • Males 18-26 must register in the selective service

  • Good moral character

  • Permanent Residence

    • 5 continuous years in the US with green card

    • 3 years if married to US citizen

Process

Test

  • English Speaking

    • N-400 Interview

  • Civics Questions

    • 100 possible questions

    • Must correctly answer 6 of 10 questions.

    • Practice 100q.pdf (uscis.gov)

    • 2020 version temporarily available (128 questions)

  • English Reading

    • Must read 1 of 3 correctly

  • English Writing

    • Must write 1 of 3 correctly

Pass/Fail

  • If you pass, you will attend the Oath of Allegiance Ceremony and officially become a US citizen.

  • If you fail, you will have one more attempt to pass. If you fail a second time, you must re-apply.
